Pediatric Nephrologist Physician-Investigator, Open Rank (Finance)



The University of South Florida (USF) Health Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, in partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital (JHACH), seeks applications from outstanding physician-scientists or clinician-investigators, to direct the research programs within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Nephrology. The successful candidate will be based at the Children's Research Institute on the beautiful St. Petersburg, FL campus and will be supported by the Walmart & Sam's Club Endowment in Pediatric Nephrology. May be eligible for a joint appointment at Johns Hopkins University. S/he will build successful extramurally funded research programs in pediatric nephrology that leverage Departmental research resources and research collaborators (including basic scientists and clinical/translational researchers) in:

  • The USF Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology

  • Numerous Institutes and Departments at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital The selected candidate will maintain engagement in clinical care and the education/training mission, as well as provide research mentorship to trainees and junior faculty. Clinical activities will be based at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.

The USF Division of Pediatric Nephrology provides comprehensive care at 3 bay area hospitals and various outpatient clinic sites. The service covers a 4-county area in Central West Florida and includes dialysis and renal transplantation for children. JHACH is a tertiary care children's hospital that is ranked among the top 50 children's hospitals in multiple subspecialties, including pediatric nephrology, by US News & World Report.MINIMUM:

  • MD or MD/PhD from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing, or research in referred and other professional journals. Must meet university criteria for appointment to final rank.

  • Experience and ability to build an extramural research program is required. Applicants must have a record of sustained accomplishments in clinical or basic science research and be Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology.

  • RESEARCH: The successful candidate will advance research initiatives within the Division of Pediatric Nephrology in collaboration with USF Pediatrics and Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. They will oversee and foster an environment of inquiry and collaboration, including building an extramurally funded research program in Pediatric Nephrology.

  • CLINICAL: Inpatient and outpatient clinical duties at JHACH.
  • \n
  • TEACHING: Participate in departmental teaching programs involving medical students and house staff.
  • \n
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
  • \n
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • \n
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
