Position Summary: Under general supervision of the Trades Manager performs new construction, preventive maintenance and repairs on all plumbing systems in Pueblo of Santa Ana buildings, facilities and residential homes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: · Maintain and repair all general plumbing components. · Install, maintain and repair water and drainage systems, plumbing fixtures, equipment, faucets, pools, sump pumps, backflows, garbage disposals and fire suppression systems in Pueblo buildings including the wellness center and its pools and Pueblo member residences. · Inspect systems, replacing corroded pipes, draining unheated water lines in outdoor facilities and removing backflow preventers to winterize water lines and irrigation systems. · Repair and replace commercial hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps and sewage pumps. · Troubleshoot and repair steam, water and gas utility distribution systems to identify problems and repairs needed. · Replace broken fixtures, valves, pumps, controllers and/or irrigation systems and lift pumps to restore restroom, lift station or irrigation system functionality. · Repair a variety of plumbing fixtures, valves and swimming pool pumps. · Unplug fixtures and lines to restore service to Pueblo buildings and residences. · Install piping for HVAC, water and gas as needed. · Ensure all work areas are clean and organized. Responsible for maintenance of tools and materials and write and implement a preventative maintenance program. · Promote workplace safety. · Interpret blueprints, work from sketches or verbal instructions. · Maintain logs and records of work performed and materials and equipment used. · Provide excellent customer service. · Maintain strict confidentiality. · Assist other maintenance personnel or vendors as directed. · Contribute to a team effort. · Must be able to read and follow directions about assigned projects. · Adhere to Santa Ana Pueblo's Policies and Procedures. · Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Must have 5 years trade experience with knowledge and ability to service and maintain plumbing systems. Prior to start date, must have obtained a Journeyman Plumber's License. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation including a motor vehicle check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license and be insurable under the Pueblo's insurance.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications: · Knowledge of plumbing and electrical, mechanical and maintenance systems. · Knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations and guidelines. · Knowledge of repair principles, practices and techniques for a variety of standard fixtures, valves and related items. · Knowledge of operating principles of a variety of plumbing fixtures, valves and related items including operating pressures. · Knowledge of general safety rules. · Skilled in plumbing installation, maintenance and repair. · Knowledge of steam, water and natural gas distribution systems maintenance and repair · Ability to exercise independent judgment. · Ability to work with hand and power tools applicable to the trade. · Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic or exploded views of a variety of plumbing fixtures, valves, pumps or related items. · Ability to establish and implement a preventive maintenance program. · Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. · Ability to maintain confidentiality. · Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. · Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. · Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. · Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything, and continually seek improvement in results.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee occasionally is required to sit. Considerable physical activity; heavy physical work; heavy moving, lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds is a primary part of the job. Use two-person lift when lifting more than 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an indoor and outdoor setting where exposure to unpleasant odors, dust, dirt, fumes, and chemicals may occur. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which may require wearing safety-toe shoes, safety goggles, gloves, or protective face shields.
