Intern - Finance & Accounting (Finance)

The Manitowoc Company, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Intern within the Company's Corporate Finance Department.  In this role, the intern will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the various functions across the corporate finance team by working with the Controllership, Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Treasury departments.  This internship will be located at Manitowoc's Global Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI, and will assist with a wide range of duties.  The level of support in each of the departments will vary based on the needs within each of the departments, however the intern will gain experience in each of the departments as follows.  The internship will conclude with a capstone presentation to executive management. 

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

The intern will support the FP&A function, assisting with the analysis of actual financial results as well as the quarterly reforecasts.  The intern will also support the annual strategic plan process and additional projects as available.  In addition, the Finance Intern will shadow FP&A team members and support the department with any ad hoc and finance transformation projects. 

Controllership

During the internship, you may assist with month end and quarter end close procedures (preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, etc.), support the filing of Manitowoc's Form 10-Q and related earnings announcement, and document standard operating procedure documents.  

Tax

During the internship, you may assist with preparation of the U.S. Federal and state income tax returns and supporting calculations.  You will develop a practical understanding of the tax aspects of U.S. and foreign tax compliance matters and transfer pricing/intercompany documentation.  There will also be a potential opportunity to assist with other tax planning projects as they arise.

Treasury

During the internship, you will gain a general understanding of the Treasury Department.  In this role, you will support debt compliance reporting, short term cash forecasts, interest calculations, among other items. 

Qualifications:

• Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Finance or other business-related degree
• No previous finance experience necessary
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong sense of professionalism
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams
