Strategy Summer Intern (Finance)



Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Strategy Summer Intern to join our Strategy and Communications department. This position is a full-time, 40 hours per week, internship opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model. This internship position requires the intern to be on site every Tuesday at our Capitol Hill regional office in Washington D.C. Please note, this position is ineligible for benefits. Reporting to a Director of Regional Surgical Services Strategy, the Strategy Summer Intern will collaborate with the Director of Regional Surgical Services Strategy, Executive Consultants, and directly engage with physician executives to collaborate on projects that impact health care delivery. You will conduct market research to inform strategic planning, analyze data to identify insights, and assist in the development of key strategic initiatives. You will also support project management tasks by coordinating activities, scheduling meetings, and ensuring deadlines are met.

You can expect to:

  • Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and competitors to inform strategic planning initiatives
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and synthesize data to uncover patterns, insights, and areas for improvement
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of strategic plans and initiatives, including drafting proposals and presentations for leadership
  • Project Support: Coordinate tasks, schedule meetings, track progress, and ensure timely project completion
  • Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with various departments and stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on project progress
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership

What is required:
  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in healthcare management, public health, business, communications or related field; Recent college graduates are ineligible for the internship program
  • Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours a week, for a minimum of 12 weeks
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize data and identify key insights
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly and collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be able to commute to the Washington D.C. regional office one day per week
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment

The starting hourly rate for this position ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, which considers an applicant's skills and qualifications, certain degrees and prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
