Lecturer - U.S. History (Finance)
Responsibilities in Fall 2025 will be two Face-to-Face sections of HIST 1302 (US History since 1877) and two online Asynchronous sections of HIST 1301 (US History to 1877) in the regular session. Section size in all cases will be 300 undergraduate students; all sections will have Teaching Assistant support.
Responsibilities for Spring 2026 will be two Face-to-Face sections of HIST 1302 (US History since 1877) with a quota of 300 in each (with TA support) in the regular term; one small section of HIST 1301 (US History to 1877), with a quota of 35, in the Winter Mini session; and a fourth course to be determined by the department chair to fulfill curricular/student needs.
To apply, candidates must submit a letter of application/cover letter, CV, and unofficial transcripts. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant professional credentials in the field of American history.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD in History awarded no later than July 2025.
Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
