Under the direct supervision of the Regional and Assistant Director, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and staff of the Mobile Crisis and Call Center teams (Crisis Line and Access Line). This position ensures operational efficiency, exceptional customer service, and compliance with contractual and accreditation standards. The Program Manager also provides leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for staff, conducts case consultations, and collaborates closely with the Clinical Supervisor(s), Case Manager Supervisor, and Program Supervisor to meet program goals. The position requires flexibility and shift work as the program operates 24/7, year-round.
How will I contribute
Assist the program leadership in managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including after-hours support and additional service lines. Supervise and support staff and interns, delegating tasks to ensure the program runs effectively and meets operational goals. Oversee the call center, ensuring crisis and access line calls are managed efficiently through staff training and oversight. Provide training on documentation requirements, ensuring accurate tracking of calls in compliance with funder and data collection standards. Support staff development through regular training and professional growth initiatives, fostering on-the-job efficiencies and effectiveness. Conduct staff supervision, performance evaluations, quality assurance, and in-service training, as well as support with conflict mediation and problem resolution. Manage the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding processes for new staff. Ensure compliance with data entry and administrative file management, reviewing documents for accuracy and regulatory requirements. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement to enhance service delivery and client outcomes. Communicate staff performance (both successes and challenges) to the Regional Director, implementing necessary recommendations for improvement. Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant grant contracts and required documentation. Attend and represent the program at coalition, partnership, and community meetings as needed. Collaborate with the program leadership to identify and pursue new internal and external partnership opportunities. Maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders, fostering ongoing collaboration. Participate in agency meetings as required, including occasional evening and weekend meetings. Uphold professional confidentiality, ensuring client information is shared within the organization only when necessary to support client needs. Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage, balancing workloads, and considering employee availability. Adjust schedules to accommodate staffing changes, absences, or unforeseen operational needs, ensuring continuity of service. Schedule breaks to minimize impact on service delivery metrics and maintain operational efficiency. May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.
What I bring
Masters Degree in clinical counseling with licensure as LMFT, LCSW or LPCC in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. At least 2 years post licensure and eligible to provide clinical supervision and direct supervision of staff. Knowledge of evidence-based practices relating to crisis intervention, resiliency skills training, wellness and recovery, diagnosis, treatment interventions and stigma related to mental illness. Current BBS license in good standing in the State of California. Must have a National Provider Number (NPI) or obtain an NPI number prior to employment start date. Class C Driving License Supervisory experience in mental health/substance abuse care systems, and/or crisis services needed, especially in the non-profit or public health sector. Knowledge of crisis services and operations. Excellent verbal, written and computer skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Strong customer-service orientation. Excellent supervisory skills. Ability to foster teamwork, work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness. Ability to lead, positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization. Ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and Ability to interpret and manage program budgets. Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Willingness to develop collaborative relationships with other community crisis intervention providers and mental health educators by assisting with support and education. Experience in overseeing quality care and monitoring performance indicators for a program is strongly preferred. Knowledge and expertise in public health issues such as capacity building and sustainability (funding streams, payment methods, performance efficiencies, etc.) preferred.
