TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Senior Buyer to join our Procurement Team. This position will be based in Nashville, TN or Atlanta, GA. Local candidates are encouraged to apply.
Summary: Responsible for the cost-effective procurement of materials and services to meet the requirements of the organization. Maintain positive relationships with suppliers. Build collaboration with the Operations Team to ensure an ongoing understanding of their supply needs. Competitive bidding of contracts and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Follow up on all orders that need authorization and ensure it is obtained promptly.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all purchasing activities and correspondence with suppliers.
Ensure all quotes are accurate and complete.
Maintain complete and accurate Sole Source and Single Source Justifications, and approvals for both.
Bidding based upon Suppliers and Commodities.
Proper Filing/Archiving of all Procurement work and documents.
Assist Operations with- non-conforming materials delivered, returns and trade outs.
Plan, schedule and procure commodities assigned to meet business scheduling requirements.
Negotiate Terms, Pay Terms, Price, Lead Time, etc.
Prepare reports related to supplier performance regarding price, quality, on-time delivery, and service.
Maintain vendor score card shared with Operations and Vendors.
Advise Operations and Management of problems with delivery and/or prices schedules and suggest solutions.
Act as super-user for the Procurement software systems.
Execute goods contracts for materials purchased.
Review terms & conditions for goods Procurement and review credit applications.
Ensure compliance with all Procurement policies and follow legal aspects of negotiations and purchases.
Identify projects and areas for improvement.
Participate in all Optimization projects.
Expedite open orders as needed and partner with Accounts Payable to resolve payment issues.
Proactively engage with Operations to illustrate value to business.
Requirements and Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of an Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred
Typically requires 3 - 5 years of purchasing experience.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excel in time management, multi-tasking, and organization.
Demonstrated negotiation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple high-priority tasks at once.
Skilled in Microsoft Office products and as well as database software & entry.
