Boiler Mechanic I SW D Shift (Finance)
D Team- Wed. 12pm-6pm and Thursday-Saturday 6am-6pm
To maintain the operation of the boiler and associated equipment within Simmons and governmental requirements.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate the boilers and air compressors within tolerances. Perform PMs, troubleshooting, and repair the boilers, compressors, dryers, and associated equipment. Ensure chemicals for treatment water are correct by partnering with our chemical provider. Maintain and repair steam piping throughout the plant including steam mixing valves, steam injectors, and steam traps. Performs annual internal inspection of all pressure vessels (steam, air, scrubbers).
Operate the scrubber system within guidelines of DNR AND EPA. Perform any repairs needed on the Scrubbers system. Perform PMs on all scrubbers associated equipment to include all cooling towers, room air scrubbers, meat and feather scrubbers. Assist production with the operation of room air scrubbers, meat and feather scrubbers. Maintain Scrubber and Boiler program.
The candidate will be capable of changing out the boiler controls, programming, and commissioning to factory spec provided by the burner manufacturer, controller manufacturer, including the wiring diagrams. All manufacturer-required component start-up procedures must be completed in order to conduct a functional test. All safeties, interlocks, and alarms operate correctly in both automatic, manual, weekend mode.
Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Must be able to lift 50 pounds of equipment and materials. Work in temperature extremes (below 40 to above 100 degrees) in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, and noisy environments. Will climb up and down stairs/ladders to heights of 150 feet or more and work on feet for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Chemical resistant rubber gloves, full face shield, ear plugs, safety glasses, fall harness, safety footwear and any other as required or needed.
Travel: N/A
Technical Experience: Basic computer literacy, verified training and understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations. Boiler tech 1 and 2 certifications through GAP or equivalent program preferred .
Industry Experience: Minimum 6 months on the job experience working around live boilers.
Minimum Education : High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Must have an understanding of the English language and perform basic math.
Preferred Education : Technical college or vocational training in related field.
