Assistant Director of Community Engagement (Project Management)
General Statement: The Fleet Science Center is a multi-faceted, county-wide organization that works with communities across the San Diego region to leverage STEM expertise and learning in support of their unique community goals and aspirations. In addition to welcoming visitors to our Balboa Park facility, the most visited museum in San Diego, the Fleet co-develops programs with neighborhoods across the county and partners with San Diego's scientists, engineers, educators and STEM organizations to build collective capacity. The Assistant Director of Community Engagement helps the Vice President of Community Service & Engagement to provide leadership, vision, and management of community engagement efforts that advance the Fleet's mission and strategic initiatives. This individual will work with internal and external stakeholders to proactively grow the Fleet's impact across San Diego County. The position oversees a team that will be responsible for meeting with internal stakeholders and community organizations, co-developing collaborative efforts and gathering relevant data to inform Fleet's future community engagement and collaborative grants tactics. This role collaborates closely with other team leaders to ensure that everything we do at the Fleet reflects the mindset of science at the service of community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Tools and equipment used to perform this position: Computer, Microsoft Office Suite software, telephone, copy machine, printer, fax, office supplies, paper cutter, and A/V equipment.
Supervision, direction, or guidance provided for this position: Performs duties with minimal supervision. Supervision needed for review and approval of new program development, or changes to existing policies and procedures, or as deemed necessary.
Physical Requirements of this Position:
Sedentary Work: Position involves sitting most of the time. Standing and walking are required. Position requires the ability to exert minimal force of up to 10 pounds occasionally and minimal force to carry, lift, push, and otherwise move objects frequently. Position requires daily travel throughout San Diego County.
