Trails Crew Member (Transportation)
The Trails Crewmember position is an exciting and adventurous opportunity to work in crew building and maintaining trail projects. Featuring opportunities for travel in Colorado, the Trails Crewmember is responsible for carrying out project instructions, performing skilled and non-skilled trail work, and producing a timely and high-quality completed project. Timberline TrailCraft seeks an individual that demonstrates passion for trail building and the outdoors.
Travel is frequent, typically requiring employees to be on the road five days per week. We are seeking an individual that demonstrates passion for trail building and the outdoors, and that is motivated to continue trail building education through conferences, reading, and certifications. For job sites over one hour from home, Timberline will provide a per diem as some jobs will require Crewmembers to live on the job site. When lodging is not available, Crewmembers will be expected to camp on site. Depending on the job and arrangement, that lodging may range from staying in tents, RV, a house, etc. Evening and weekend travel to home is an option when realistic for the Crewmember.
Responsibilities:
Meets and exceeds management and client expectations through excellent trail work Communicate all safety concerns, work concerns, and other pertinent information to the Trails Crew Leader Effectively comply with Timberlines guidelines in emergency situations, following protocols and communication requirements Read, understand, and implement certain plans and schematics Maintains and/or operates tools and equipment; including hand tools, small power tools, and chainsaws Performs unskilled and, as training and experience allows semi-skilled work in a responsible manner Assists with routine equipment maintenance, particularly sharpening and re-hanging of hand tools Works full days in the backcountry without regular access to amenitiesPerforms other functions as assigned
Physical Demands and work environment:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (request help when lifting heavier things) Depending on the job, this position could require back-country camping, hiking for miles with a day pack, and dealing with all weather conditions This job, at a minimum, requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and control of heavy equipment
