Production Supervisor Trainee (Edison, NJ) (Finance)
The ops associate will play a key role in supporting the efficiency, quality, and safety of our production processes. This position is responsible for assisting with daily operations, ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, and collaborating with teams to improve workflows. By actively participating in production oversight, problem solving, and process optimization, the operations associate contributes to maintaining high operational standards.
Ops Associate will be training to become a Production Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities:
• Core Responsibilities
• Checks with supervisors or manager at the beginning of shift to discuss any issues or changes in the daily procedure. Closely monitors schedule changes, customer requests, additions, promotions etc.
• Assists in the monitoring of daily productivity reports, quality control logs and compliance records.
• Performs safety observations for entire plants, ladder inspections and merlin data entry
• Assist with the prerelease, release, and printing of production work orders.
• Assists warehouse with PO receiving, pick sheet selecting.
• Manage the daily production schedule to ensure customer orders are manufactured in a timely fashion. Maintaining schedule efficiency.
• Maintain communication with all departments regarding product issues, shortages, and other matters impacting each department and the end customer.
• Responsible for collecting, consolidating, and reporting of time and action schedules and issues, and working with Manager on resolution as appropriate.
• Assist with reporting production and order filing. Identify risks and opportunities when significant decisions or changes are made. Update the production shortage report accurately and promptly.
• Work cross functionally for successful execution of production plans and keep teams informed with any issues impacting service delivery.
• Responsible for supply/demand coordination including floor stock and safety stock implementation and management.
• Evaluates finished good inventory levels, MRP, identifying and reworking excessive or expired stock.
• Coordinate with inventory control for increased efficiency in operations and correcting bin orders as needed.
• Coordinate with quality control team to review labels, review safety parameters in fulfilling the orders ensuring compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
• Assist ops with presentations, spreadsheets, data analysis.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), OSHA, FDA and other regulatory guidelines ensuring adherence to company policies and performance expectations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
• High school diploma or GED
Experience:
• 1-3 years warehouse experience
• Food, Pharma, cosmetics industry experience is desirable.
• Inventory control, supply chain management knowledge preferred
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
• Must be able to work with Microsoft tools: including Microsoft Office Suite and PowerPoint
• Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory procedures and policies.
• Understanding of required computer applications.
• Bilingual Preferred (Spanish)
• Strong communication skills and detail oriented
• Ability to multitask.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in cross functional team
Work Environment:
Onsite Role:
• This position requires the associate to perform all duties at one of our UNFI locations, such as a distribution center or office.
Travel (minor):
• This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
Physical Environment/Demands:
• Must be able to work in an environment containing Tree nuts, Peanuts, Soy, Wheat, Sesame, Milk and different spices like pepper, chili etc.
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
• Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
• Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation.
• Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
