Job Summary The Assistant Controller is a key leadership position in a midsized multinational manufacturing company with participation in high level financial, operational, regulatory, and strategic meetings. This position supports Executive management and business unit management in collecting, maintaining, and reporting financial information in a global environment. The role prepares financial and management reports and procedures, develops and maintains planning and budgeting systems, analyzes and interprets financial data, and represents the Finance group in meetings. Other key duties will include overseeing functional reporting of accounting issues and providing critical guidance to business unit personnel. Job Responsibilities Coordinates timely entry, including training and updating financial personnel on new reporting requirements, through BPC financial reporting software. Collaborates with Director of Sales to report revenue schedules for quarterly actual, forecast, strategic plan, and budget. Consolidates the monthly forecast by business unit, including D8 file consolidation, comments, and BPC input. Reviews financial results by business unit, coordinates data input corrections, and adherence to reporting standards for actual and forecasts. Reviews and analyzes capital projects from inception to completion, tracks and audits expected to actual savings. Exercises discretion and judgment in analyzing, modifying, and adjusting data for SEC reporting requirements. Leads and provides guidance on bi-annual hard close preparation and review, ensuring consistency in business unit self-assessment of internal controls. Consolidates cost reductions/savings analysis, tests to ensure OI improvement and achievement of budget targets. Prepares monthly analysis of OI, actual to budget to forecast to understand and explain variances. Reviews and tests fixed asset maintenance and coordinates completing of annual fixed asset inventories or audits. Reviews inventory levels, including E&O and cycle count results, to ensure compliance with corporate standards. Maintains documentation and annual review of transfer pricing agreements, including preparation of local country files, true-up analysis, and adherence to standards. Designs templates using report writing software to capture financial data and make reporting and analyzing more efficient. Supplies decision support through financial modeling and management reporting based on financial data. Communicates requirements, deadlines, and compliance procedures while recording and analyzing the company's financial information. Compiles, analyzes, and interprets financial information for corporate or business unit personnel to support sound business decisions. Prepares and presents financial reports for meetings, including but not limited to operations, forecast, budget, and strategic planning meetings. Develops and maintains financial forecasting, planning systems, and processes. Assists in development and implementation of policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budgeting, and accounting. Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal accounting and administrative controls. Coordinates preparation, maintenance, and consistency of external and internal audit materials. Assists business units with preparation and maintenance of tax reporting schedules and packages for timely compliance with established filing requirements. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending continuing professional education, reviewing professional publications, and participating in company-sponsored training events. Analyzes manufacturing variances and reviews or reconciles balance sheet accounts for consistency in reporting and maximizing cash flow. Works independently with minimal instruction to innovate and implement new procedures for streamlining processes and increasing efficiencies. Reconciles or assists with reconciliation of statutory and US GAAP books. Manages software implementation for financial reporting, such as Epicor finance modules and Excel add-ons for data extraction. Tests E&O calculations, ensuring adequate reserve coverage is maintained and inventory disposals are properly reviewed and approved. Adheres to timely reporting standards, exhibits exemplary attendance, and demonstrates responsiveness outside of core working hours. Complies with company policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned Requirements Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of accounting experience OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Possesses advanced knowledge of US GAAP and international reporting standards. Multiple currencies, statutory reporting, transfer pricing, and international operations experience. Progressive responsibilities in fast-paced publicly traded company with multiple locations. Physical: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stooping, twist, reach, reach overhead. Preferred: CPA professional certification. Experience with ERP systems. Experience with global manufacturing environments. Ability to travel both domestic and international and availability outside core business hours. Supervisory experience.
