POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to perform organized research on the molecular biology of the malaria parasite, focusing on the drug resistance and epigenetic regulation aspects; Provide assistance on the training of postdoctoral scholars and students on malaria-related lab techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in molecular studies of the malaria parasite
- Creation and implementation of a research plan on functional genomics of the parasite
- Assist USF Health faculty in grant preparation and publication submission.
- Supervision of graduate students or post-doctoral fellows in molecular biology of the malaria parasite
- Perform organized research on the molecular biology of the malaria parasite, focusing on the drug resistance and epigenetic regulation aspects; Provide assistance on the training of postdoctoral scholars and students on malaria-related lab techniques.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
- Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
- Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
- May represent the university, college/school, or department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Master's degree from an accredited institution with demonstrated record of academic
research achievement, or professional qualifications in the field of specialization above
those which would be equivalent to the highest degree.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Research Associate.
PREFERRED:
Experience in malaria parasite culture. Experience in genetic manipulation of the malaria parasite. Expertise in genomics data. Experience in CRISPR/cas9 design. Experience participating on funded projects.
