Quality and EHS Manager (Finance)

Job Summary:

As Quality & EHS Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of quality assurance, including coordinating all quality activities including ISO and Quality Management System (QMS) to assist the Director of Operations with the development and implementation of continuous improvement processes. You will establish and maintain an effective and efficient quality control process. You will manage all aspects of product testing and serve as primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, clients, and management regarding quality issues. You will play a crucial role in maintaining compliance with all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide quality leadership across all departments, giving input to senior management for product and process improvements.
• Perform activities related to the Quality Management System including managing the implementation of the Quality Management System across all departments and functions in compliance with ISO 9001 including quality policy, contract review, project execution, document control, process control, procurement, inspection procedures, corrective action plans, and quality system records.
• Serve as Management Representative and ensure that the processes needed to retain ISO 9001 certification for the Quality Management System are established, implemented, and maintained.
• Plan, direct, or coordinate quality assurance programs and formulate quality control policies.
• Implement and manage Quality Assurance in all processes. Responsible for generation of system metrics and analyzing metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Work with supply chain team on product validation and company process, documentation, and control. Coordinate and conduct an annual Management Review meeting with Management staff that includes the requirements of ISO 9001. Provide written meeting notes to management and coordinate the resolution of any resulting quality objectives and action items.
• Manage all aspects of external/internal audit programs including ISO registrar and customer audits, the internal audit program, and other inspections.
• Coordinate and lead certification audits with ISO 9001 Registrar. Provide an audit report to management and coordinate the resolution of any resulting corrective actions.
• Coordinate and conduct an internal audit program that meets the requirements of ISO 9001.
• Analyze warranty data, compile warranty statistics, and distribute information in the form of data to various departments.
• Lead/participate in cross-functional projects ensuring that project deliverables comply with quality standards.
• Provide quality training and guidance to the organization to ensure effective root cause analysis, development of corrective action plans, and audit preparedness.
• Work with Purchasing to improve supplier quality where necessary.
• Maintain electronic files of the Quality Manual and Quality Procedures.
• Assist with completing customer quality surveys.
• Perform activities related to safety including:
• Function as Safety Manager.
• Establish health and safety departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures in accordance with global guidelines and initiatives.
• Ensure that the workplace is monitored and is full in compliance with all applicable OSHA standards, rules, and regulations to maintain safety in manufacturing facilities.
• Promote safety awareness and adherence to safety policies and proper work practices.
• Evaluate and implement appropriate safety training and methods.
• Provide for effective employee feedback and participation in improving safety issues.
• Coordinate Safety & Environmental reporting.
• Coordinate and monitor the selection, training, and use of PPE as needed.
• Maintain facilities emergency action plan and provide training as needed.
• Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies and practices.
• Responsible for the investigation of incidents, near misses, and counseling of employees involved in accidents to prevent recurrence for assigned areas.
• Plan, develop and implement safety training for new employee orientation and annual required training.
• Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
• Identify, develop, and maintain an appropriate quality and safety organizational structure that supports company and customer needs.
• Develop Safety & Environmental programs and conduct hazard analysis as required.
• Assist in conducting training for employees and contractors regarding applicable EHS programs and procedures.
• Conduct EHS audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions.
• Execute the non-conforming process which includes production failures and supplier rejects.
• Drive the SCAR, CAPA and Complaint Management process.
• Drive the calibration of manufacturing equipment.
• Manage the site-wide ISO 9001 certification efforts by leading and facilitating audits of the quality management system.
• Serve as key interface with operations, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, customers, vendors, and third-party compliance partners to ensure quality management system requirements are met.
• Develop training materials to continually improve an ISO 9001 certified site. Evaluate risk to the organization and its customers by auditing product quality plans (PQPs), product design and development records, and other QMS related documented information.
• Make recommendations for corrective actions and risk reducing measures based on trends in audit findings.
• Oversee the processing of nonconforming material (including customer return) for assigned programs.
• Oversee employee training log.
• Develop and oversee GMP document control.
• Ensure overall company compliance with global directives and laws as they apply to company products and services.
• Ensure that work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition and established company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Due to the nature of UEI's programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in an Engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of experience working in a quality or EHS leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
• 2 years of experience with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, PDCA etc.
• 2 years of experience applying quality concepts such as Lean, 6S and Six Sigma.

Desired Qualifications:

• ASQ Certification.
• Electronics industry background preferred.
• Quality certification a plus including ISO Auditor certification.
• ISO9001 background preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or Higher.
• Ability to perform many tasks simultaneously and adjust to changing priorities as needed.
• Skilled in MS Office and document control software.

Compensation

Employee Type: Salaried

Salary Minimum: $85,000

Salary Maximum: $125,000
