JED Strategy Program Director I (Finance)
1. Plans, develops and administers methods, strategies and procedures for meeting program objectives; directs and oversees the daily activities of staff members.
2. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and ensures that expenditures are within budget allocation.
3. Directs and coordinates personally, or through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with carrying out the objectives of the program.
4. Directs the preparation of and reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objectives; modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attains objectives.
5. Analyzes trends within program areas, maintaining expert awareness of program information and change needs.
6. Formulates, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures concerning program administration.
7. Manages and administers grant for program, including meetings, communication coordination, scholarships and other operations.
8. May prepare or participate in the preparation of proposals to obtain grants from state and federal agencies, and private foundation sponsors. 9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
The JED Strategy Manager (JSM) will provide oversight of the JED Campus initiative at the University of Houston. The JSM will be responsible for communicating the nature and scope of the JED Campus initiative, including engagement of key stakeholders across the university; coordination of research, assessment and data related to JED and outreach initiatives for CAPS; and facilitation of the overall implementation of the JED strategic plan. Beyond the specific duties of the JED Campus initiative, the JSM will provide assistance with general outreach coordination and delivery as well as clinical services as needed. A summary of job responsibilities distribution: Outreach Coordination and Delivery (60%) and Assessment data coordination and analysis (40%) upon the formal completion of the JED Strategic plan in year four (2027).
Specific Responsibilities of Role:
Outreach JED specific duties
• Serve as Chair/facilitator for Mental Health JED Leadership meetings
• Facilitate campus-wide understanding of the nature and scope of the JED Campus initiative
• Understand and document the status of all work within the initiative by utilizing Microsoft Planner and other Office 365 suite tools
• Lead communications about the nature and scope of the initiative
• Support the JED Campus Leadership Team and Workgroup Chairs in leading the initiative
• Ensure broad knowledge of the status of action items within the initiative
• Engage Key Stakeholders from across the university
• Coordinate hybrid committee meetings, JED student interest meetings and workgroup meetings
• Maintain meeting minutes and correspondence from and to JED workgroup leads
• Follow up with members of the initiative to move forward items that need action
• Coordinate all assessment activities for JED (e.g. Healthy Minds, program learning outcomes, self-assessments, focus groups, etc)
• Engage in marketing and presentations related to JED to UH community
Outreach coordination and delivery beyond JED
• Support the design and implementation of outreach programming consistent with the CAPS/DSA strategic initiatives
• Support 1) the identification of learning outcomes for outreach services; 2) the management of data for outreach services and assessment of outreach objectives for CAPS
• Support the process of outreach assignments to ensure that all outreach requests have been met
• Support the design and implementation of marketing strategies and other publicity related to CAPS' activities, including content management of the center's webpage, social media, CoogsCare page, Coog News, etc.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
• Master's degree required in a relevant field
• Demonstrated skill and experience in program management and delivery
• Organizational and computer skills to effectively maintain a tracking system. Ability to utilize an electronic health record
• Strong customer service focus
• Multicultural awareness, knowledge, responsiveness, and commitment in serving a diverse student population
• Ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advance planning
Preferred qualifications:
• Transferable skills- Project management, assessment data coordination and analysis
• Interest and experience with developmental and mental health needs of college students
• Experience with assessment, data management and analysis, triage, crisis intervention, and/or brief counseling in mental health settings
• Knowledge of local resources
• Experience with higher education and/or mental health setting
• Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate collaboration across a variety of stakeholders
• Strong ability to attend to details
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
