Plant Assistant Manager (Biotech)
Enforce all PPE requirements and regulations to promote a safe work environment
Hold monthly safety meetings according to the schedule and include any information requested by the Safety Manager.
TRANSPORTATION - SCHEDULING:
Responsible for the daily schedule and ability to set-up plant according to current schedule needs, while maximizing front haul-back haul opportunities.
Responsible for communicating a plan of action to all plant employees while communicating to corporate transportation department and traders to improve transportation efficiencies.
Responsible for verifying all paperwork for both inbound/outbound loads:
Dispatch of Drivers
Receiving Customer Material
Shipping Customer Material
Export Loads
Material Identification-Traceability
Non-Conforming Material
Brokered Loads (Procedures/Accounting)
INVENTORY:
Enforce and execute security plans daily to minimize inventory loss.
Work with V.P. of Sales and Marketing to improve inventory turnover by utilizing the plant projections worksheet provided by V.P. of Sales and Marketing
Responsible for accurate and reliable physical inventory records
Monthly
Bi-annual (minimum 2x to 3x a year)
EQUIPMENT:
Trailers - All trailers should be unloaded within 10 days of receiving. All exceptions and reasons should be reported on the Quality Receiving Form.
Plant Equipment - Preventive maintenance and Calibration of the plant equipment is the responsibility of the plant manager.
TRAINING:
Training should be completed with all new employees and temporary labor according to the training matrix
Training should be completed on all current employees Shapiro or temporary to ensure training is current
All training should be verified within 30 days of being completed
All training should be documented in accordance with the Training Procedure
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or other top management personnel
Responsible for reviewing key metrics provided monthly by corporate and recommending any changes or improvements.
Responsible for the recommendation of changes to SSC work instructions and procedures to improve the efficiency of plant operations.
Responsible for determining key metrics to measure equipment, inventory, and plant personnel to recommend changes and improvements in plant operations.
Evaluate vendors and follow purchasing procedure
Any and other job duties as assigned by his immediate Supervisor/Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Transportation: experience in logistics and DOT knowledge.
· Preferred Experience: Background in Metallurgy or Metallurgical Engineering.
· Supervisory Experience: Minimum of three years in a supervisory role or equivalent.
· Metals Knowledge: Familiarity with metals is a plus.
· Organizational Skills: Ability to efficiently schedule and organize plant personnel and equipment.
