Electroencephalographic Technologist - EEG Unit (Finance)
This role involves performing electroencephalographic, electromyographic, evoked potential, and nerve conduction studies. The position includes preparing patients, ensuring proper electrode placement, and calibrating equipment. Additionally, the role requires interpreting results, observing for artifacts, and maintaining patient records.
*This is a continuous posting and will remain until the position is filled. Applications will be reviewed and competitive candidates will be referred for interview in the order in which they are received.*
Desired Qualification:
Meet the Team! RUHS Website• Operate electroencephalographic equipment to obtain tracings, which monitor other biopotential activity such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms and electrooculograms by attaching electrodes to standard location on patient's head when requested by a physician's order and in accordance with standard procedures; take medical histories as they relate to neurological diagnosis; prepare and position patients for conducting electroencephalographic, electromyographic and/or evoked potential examinations.
• Apply electrodes to predetermined measured positions on patients and check their performance; calibrate and adjust equipment; replace faulty components as necessary.
• Select predetermined electrode combinations and determine electrode combinations to define focal abnormalities during examinations.
• Interpret the graphic output during the test recording and modify the test accordingly; observe patients during tests and indicate all artifacts interfering with a true recording (e.g., muscle movement, eye blinking, swallowing).
• Designate all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during test.
• Use activation procedures such as hyperventilation and photic stimulation with responsibility for securing patient's cooperation; determine when such procedures may be clinically contraindicated.
• Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of seizure disorders through the performance of special tests; perform tests to determine whether the patient has electrocerebral silence in assessing cerebral death.
• Monitor electromyograms, electrocardiograms and electrooculograms; use electroencephalographic equipment in conjunction with other electrophysiologic monitoring devices.
• Maintain patient records and prepare reports.Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
