POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a faculty member in the tenure or non-tenure track. The successful candidate will receive institutional support for three years during which time they will be expected to initiate a competitively funded research program. The candidate should have expertise in a specific area of Emergency Medicine. Applicants must have an MD or DO degree and board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine. Candidates should have formal post-doctoral training in research methods or in a specific discipline area (e.g. a PhD) and/or have completed an emergency medicine fellowship. Areas of emphasis include social medicine, toxicology, ultrasonography, and molecular medicine. Funding will be available to support approximately 50% research/academic program development effort during the first three years.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Candidate must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
PREFERRED:
Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) degree or equivalent in addition to MD/DO or Post-doctoral research training and/or completing of a fellowship in emergency medicine.The University of South Florida is a high-impact global research university dedicated to student success. Research Duties: Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain a competitively funded, independent, research or scholarly/academic program and participate in interdisciplinary research in fields associated with Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to compete for and obtain federal funding within 3 years of the appointment.
Clinical Duties: Clinical responsibilities will include patient care in the emergency department at Tampa General Hospital and or satellite locations
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
May represent the university, college/school, or department.
