The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital, is seeking a non-rank faculty member at the level of Instructor for the Department of Surgery. Demonstrated competency in heart and lung transplant surgery is required for this position. Our team performs a high volume of heart and lung transplants per year. Additional interests in structural heart/valve surgery, robotic/minimally invasive procedures will be supported. Involvement in resident and medical student education is expected.Minimum Qualifications: Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment of Clinical Fellow. \n Additional Minimum Qualifications \n Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. \n Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible. \n Preferred Qualifications \n Certified (or eligible for certification according to current requirements) by the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in Surgery, with Added Qualifications in CT Surgery. Demonstrated proficiency in the field of Trauma/CT Surgery. Demonstrated commitment to teaching health care professional students, residents, and practicing clinicians.Responsible (with authority) for all aspects of the CT Program to include call panel privileges, treatment protocols and guidelines, service policies, education community outreach, hospital executive interface, and performance improvement; promotes multidisciplinary approach to care. \n ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: \n o Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. \n o Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. \n o Responsible for academic advising and related activities. \n o May represent the university, college/school, or department.
