Behavioral Health Specialist (Personal Services)
Under the general supervision of the PACE Center Manager, the Behavioral Health Specialist works with individuals and groups to promote mental well-being and address behavioral health issues. This role involves assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. The specialist aims to improve participants quality of life by helping them develop coping strategies, enhance their social skills, and manage their conditions effectively.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.Masters degree or higher is required.At least 2-5 years of experience in the practice of psychotherapy is preferred.
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required:
Licensure/Certification: License or certification as a Behavioral Health Specialist, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent in the state of practice.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous experience in a clinical, community, or healthcare setting is preferred.Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Empathy and active listening abilities.Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of participants mental health and psychosocial status to identify needs and appropriate interventions.Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, participant goals, and evidence-based practices.Therapeutic Interventions: Provide individual and group therapy sessions utilizing various evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing).Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention to clients in crisis situations, which may include risk assessment and safety planning.Education and Support: Educate participants and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, coping mechanisms, and available resources.Provides behavioral health consultation and support to the Interdisciplinary Team to increase the ability of team members to integrate psychiatric concepts/skills into the delivery of care.Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and medical professionals, to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care and behavioral health consultation.Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of participant assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards. Document interventions and rational/response in the EHR.Advocacy: Advocate for participants needs and ensure they have access to necessary services and resources.Participate in Behavioral Health program projects to enhance clinical practice, teamwork and program development.Continuing Education: Stay current with developments in behavioral health through ongoing education, training, and professional development opportunities.Provide support and coordination of Behavioral Health Interns.Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
May involve working in various settings, clinics, community centers, participant homes, or skilled nursing facilities.May require flexibility in hours, including evening or weekend shifts, to accommodate participant schedules.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for prolonged periods.May require physical handling of patients in a crisis.
