POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will report to the Director of Communication and Marketing and will evaluate news leads, develop story ideas, and produce visual and written content that helps promote and tell the stories of the organization. Candidate must be highly skilled in shooting and editing video, taking still photos and writing to promote USF Health for digital platforms including web and social media. Capturing quality visual content, demonstrating superior skills in planning, pre- and post-production video and editing, including creating graphics and animation design, and demonstrating effective digital content strategy are essential. Candidates must be experienced multi-media journalists/videographers, able to package video news stories with written media and must have a passion for storytelling and an ability to work rapidly and independently. This position may also produce imagery/assets to support marketing communications campaigns, assist in occasional production of graphic design elements and still photography, and consult with other USF Health departments on their video and photography products. Candidates must be able to meet immediate deadlines, sometimes on short notice, be a team player, and work effectively in a collaborative, creative team environment. When available, this position must be able to assist with daily media relations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shoots video and stills, and edits to support news coverage and storytelling.
Leads in the development of the overall visual and digital communication strategy by providing videography and photography for news events, print/electronic publications, and web and social media content. This includes online news stories (USF Health website), annual reports, college/department brochures, magazines, college/department websites, signage, social media channels and print/online advertising.
Works effectively in post production video editing, including creating video graphics and animations.
Packages news stories and works in step with Director of News and Communications for USF Health. Meets with pre- production team, assesses creative needs, suggests solutions, organizes the workflow process and executes products (shoot video and captures audio).
Defines and applies content strategy and campaign tactics to overall planning and production; bridges content strategy across teams and efforts; supports efforts in tracking outcomes.
Provides written stories that support the visuals, and other written content as needed.
Receives assignments, evaluates news stories and tips, and develops original story ideas.
Gathers facts regarding stories through interviews, observation and research.
Provides graphic design, still photography and other photography duties as needed, as well as produces video news packages/releases and responds to
deadline for outside news media requests, including escorting reporters as needed.
Helps maintain digital assets archive in conjunction with other communications multi-media journalists on team.
Provides care, maintenance and service of assigned university photographic, video and audio equipment. Advises on technical purchases, installations and
maintenance.
Provides audio/visual support and technical expertise to ensure livestream broadcasts are viewable and listenable to audiences on Facebook, Ustream and YouTube.
Supports other USF Health Office of Communications and Marketing duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
10 years of professional experience. Journalism and broadcast health care experience a plus.
Professional experience in shooting and editing video and working in a deadline environment, and experience working with Final Cut Pro, After Effects, InDesign and Proficient with MS Windows Office.
Preferred attributes: Working knowledge of health field / health-related journalism; still photogrpahy and graphic design.
