The USF Libraries Systems Group supplies primary technology support across all locations, communicating library faculty and administrative needs into direct technology solutions or involving various technology groups at USF in solutions or product portfolio changes from third-party providers when necessary.
Position Summary:
The technology support specialist role supports library units' computing and peripherals for the USF Tampa Library. This position assists users with the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of information technology hardware and software, including conference room items.
Duties:
First tier of desktop support technician for staff computing areas for Microsoft Windows and Apple products.
Prepare desktop computers for staff use using on-site systems and tools. Add library-specific applications as required based on department tasks and workflows.
Acts as liaison between the library and USF support groups for conference rooms and general audiovisual equipment in multiple conference rooms within the library. Knowledge of Crestron and Logitech conferencing platforms is preferred.
Create and edit documentation for technology use, communicate standards for conferencing equipment and use through signage, AppGuides QuickStart, and Usage Note documents.
Manage inventory processing using an asset tracking system and organize equipment through the surplus process.
Skills Required:
Familiarity with the process of installing upgrades, patches, software, and configurations as needed for staff computing and associated peripherals. Core skillset will include Microsoft products, Teams, Office, Box, and OneDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud support knowledge is a plus.
Requires a self-starter, and self-motivated individual who remains on tasks as required to completion with the drive to research issues, or communicate with support groups as required.
Detail-oriented individual who can accurately enter asset information, and create accurate documentation relevant to the use of equipment.
Minimum Qualification:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with four years of experience in related positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may be substituted at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Experience using Microsoft tools in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualification:
Experience with Crestron, Extron, and Logitech videoconferencing systems. Experience in using networking tools.
