Fiscal & Business Specialist (Finance)

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely posting of an assigned group of tuition and fee waiver/exemption types to student accounts. In accordance with State and University policy, the Fiscal and Business Specialist will gather tuition and fee waiver forms, calculate waiver amounts, and post the waivers to student accounts using the Banner student system. The Fiscal and Business Specialist will run Access reports to reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy and compliance of waivers posted. Provides excellent customer service support to students, parents, and other University department via face-to-face interaction, phones, and emails. Other duties as assigned.

This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.Minimum Qualifications: Require a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of work experience in positions with fiscal support duties. College or other relevant post-secondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other field directly related to the position's specific responsibilities and two years of fiscal related work experience; or six years of fiscal related work experience

• Gather all necessary documentation required that grants the authority to post the assigned group of tuition and fee waivers./exemptions Evaluate and establish the appropriate dollar amounts the waivers/exemptions are authorized to pay on the student account. Communicate with students, parents, and university departments on procedures, required documentation needed, and eligibility.
• Analyze and verify all spreadsheets from the Colleges and Departments that the waivers/exemptions cover the correct costs of tuition and associated fees. Train the appropriate staff of the College and Department in the usage of the tuition matrix as well as waiver/exemption spreadsheet calculations.
• Post all waivers into the Banner student system accurately and timely for the assigned group of tuition and fee waivers. Waivers are required to be posted by the end of the first week of classes for the term.
• Post all adjustments received throughout the term from the Colleges and Departments accurately and timely. Reconcile assigned group of waiver types to ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate the Abandoned Property process for Student Accounting Services.
• Perform other duties as assigned
