POSITION SUMMARY
An Electrical Process Engineer specializing in electrical design brings value to the organization by developing, optimizing, and overseeing the performance of electrical systems within our production and manufacturing processes. This role collaborates closely with production staff, external consultants, the broader engineering team, and leadership to ensure product designs are properly translated into safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective electrical systems on the factory floor.
Responsibilities
Electrical Process Solutions
Serve as the primary contact for electrical process issues and improvements, translating production challenges into effective engineering solutions.
Electrical System Design & Coordination
Develop comprehensive electrical system designs that adhere to performance, compliance, and budgetary requirements. Coordinate with external consultants, architects, and other design partners to ensure alignment with project objectives and code compliance.
Collect & Analyze Data
Gather production and system performance data; apply scientific and statistical methods to document, analyze, and diagram electrical processes for continuous optimization.
Develop Standard Procedures
Create and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for electrical installations and operations to promote consistency, safety, and adherence to regulations.
Review Technical Drawings
Examine electrical shop drawings for accuracy, feasibility, safety, and constructability. Verify that all designs meet applicable codes and production goals.
Identify & Alleviate Bottlenecks
Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques to address electrical process bottlenecks, enhancing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Manage Value Engineering Efforts
Test new processes, materials, and products; maintain a live, up-to-date log of trials for Key Performance Indicator (KPI) calculations. Propose and implement modifications that reduce costs or enhance performance.
Collaborate Across Teams
Work in partnership with production staff, supervisors, factory leadership, and company leadership to coordinate and communicate non-standard or new electrical processes.
Bridge Operations & Engineering
Serve as a critical link between Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Construction teams. Facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure each group's needs and contributions are effectively integrated.
Qualifications
Journeyman Electrician Certification
Demonstrable experience and current certification as a Journeyman Electrician, with in-depth knowledge of electrical codes and best practices.
Strong Problem-Solving Orientation
Energized by dynamic environments and adept at devising practical, code-compliant solutions under tight deadlines.
Technical Competence in Electrical & Construction Drawings
Highly skilled at reading, interpreting, and critiquing electrical and schematic drawings for accuracy and manufacturability.
High-Level Communication Skills
Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal abilities, enabling clear and concise guidance to internal teams and external consultants.
Meticulous Attention to Detail
Demonstrated aptitude for ensuring every electrical design detail is precise, safe, and meets organizational requirements.
Educational Background
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) preferred but not required if commensurate experience is demonstrated.
Relevant Industry Experience
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in electrical design or a related field. Construction and/or manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred.
This position offers the opportunity to lead the electrical design and process optimization efforts in a growing manufacturing environment. We seek a driven individual who thrives on collaboration, precision, and continuous improvement in pursuit of organizational excellence.
